The last four are repairs, and repairs cost a lot less.<\/p><h3 dir=\"ltr\">What happens on the day<\/h3><p dir=\"ltr\">People ask this more than anything else, so here is the whole thing.<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Before we arrive.<\/strong> We give you a time. If the glass is being made to size, we will have already boarded up the window on an earlier visit.<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>When we get there.<\/strong> We put down a drop sheet and clear the area around the window. If there&#8217;s furniture in the way, we move it back a little and put it where it was afterwards.<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Taking the old glass out.<\/strong> This is the noisy part. Old putty or beads come off, then the broken glass. Everything goes straight into a bin in the van.<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Checking the frame.<\/strong> We look at the rubbers, the seals and the frame itself before anything new goes in. You don&#8217;t have to stand and watch.<\/p><h3 dir=\"ltr\">After the new glass is in<\/h3><p dir=\"ltr\">A few simple things to know once we have gone.<\/p><ul dir=\"ltr\"><li><strong>Give sealant and putty time to set.<\/strong> Silicone skins over in a few hours. Fresh putty on a timber window stays soft for a couple of weeks before it&#8217;s ready to paint.<\/li><li><strong>Hold off cleaning for a day or two.<\/strong> Especially the edges, where the new sealant is.<\/li><li><strong>Don&#8217;t stick anything to the glass.<\/strong> Stickers, tape and dark film can cause problems, particularly on large windows that get the afternoon sun.<\/li><li><strong>No scrapers or scouring pads, ever.<\/strong> Warm water and a soft cloth is all glass needs.<\/li><li><strong>Open and close the window normally.<\/strong> There&#8217;s no running-in period.<\/li><\/ul><p dir=\"ltr\">If anything doesn&#8217;t look right, ring us.
