Here is the honest truth: most shower screen problems do not need a whole new screen. A leak usually comes from a worn seal or a failed water sweep. A dropped door usually means a tired hinge or pivot. A sticky sliding door usually needs new rollers and a clean, straight track. All of these are repairs, and repairs cost far less than replacement.
Glass is the one exception. Toughened shower glass cannot be patched, so a chipped or cracked panel must come out and a new panel goes in, cut to the same size and fitted with the same hardware. We check the whole screen on every visit, tell you plainly what needs fixing and what does not, and put it in writing before we touch a thing.

But it has one habit you need to know about: once it is chipped or cracked, it can let go all at once, without warning, hours or days after the damage happened.

Yes, in most cases. A leak almost always comes from the soft parts, not the glass. The rubber seals along the edges, the water sweep under the door and the channel at the base all wear out over time. We replace those parts, re-set the door so it closes evenly, and the leak stops. The glass only enters the picture if it is chipped or cracked.
The hinges or pivots have worn, so the door is hanging lower on one side than it should. Every swing puts the full weight of a heavy glass panel through those two small fittings, and after years of daily use they lose their grip. We re-hang the door on new hinges or pivots and adjust it until it sits level, closes softly and clears the tray.
No. Please stop using it. Shower screens are made from toughened glass, and toughened glass holds a lot of tension inside it. A chip or crack breaks that tension, and the whole panel can burst into pieces at any moment, even days later, even without being touched. Keep everyone away from the panel and book a replacement as soon as you can.
All three. Framed screens usually need seal, roller and channel work. Semi-frameless screens mostly come to us for hinge and panel problems. Frameless screens rely on strong hinges, clamps and brackets holding thick glass, so alignment and hardware are the usual jobs there. Each style uses different parts, and we carry stock for all of them.
Seal, sweep, hinge and roller repairs are often done the same day or the next day, and the visit itself usually takes under an hour. A glass panel replacement takes a little longer because the new toughened panel is cut and prepared to your exact measurements first. Either way, you get a clear date and time when you book, not a vague promise.
Yes. We measure the old panel, note the thickness, the edge finish and the position of every hole and cut-out, then have the new toughened panel made to the same recipe. It goes back into your existing frame or fittings, so once it is in, nothing looks added on or out of place.
Usually, yes. Older Sydney bathrooms are full of screens whose original parts left the shelves years ago. Most discontinued rollers, seals and pivots have a modern equivalent that fits with small adjustments, and where nothing matches, we can adapt the fitting rather than condemn the whole screen. Replacement is the last resort, not the first.
