Window Glass Repair Berala

Amrah Glass & Aluminium is based in Berala. Our workshop, cutting bench and glass stock sit at 47 Oxford Street, Berala NSW 2141, which makes this the fastest suburb we service. Most single-pane repairs are completed the same day, glass is cut a few streets from your door, and broken windows outside business hours are boarded up 24/7.

Call Shaan on 0468 497 928, or come into the workshop Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm.

Why does a local workshop change the job?

For most glaziers, a window repair is two trips. They measure, drive back to a depot, cut the glass, and return another day.

In Berala it is one trip. We measure your window, cut the pane at Oxford Street, and come straight back. Standard 4mm and 6mm float glass, common toughened sizes and mirror stock are already on the racks, so there is no ordering delay for everyday jobs.

You can also skip the visit altogether. Bring a small timber sash, a cabinet door or a mirror panel into the workshop and we will cut and fit it while you wait.

What types of windows do we repair in Berala?

Berala’s housing stock is genuinely mixed, and each type fails in its own way.

Post-war brick and fibro homes. Many still have their original timber sash windows, and a few retain steel-framed windows. Timber sashes need re-puttying rather than a rubber seal. Steel frames need the old compound chipped out patiently so the frame is not bent in the process. Both jobs take longer than an aluminium swap, and both are work a lot of glaziers now turn down. We still take them on.

Newer duplexes and townhouses. Wide aluminium sliders and stacker doors, usually toughened. These need the right thickness and the right safety grade, not a like-for-like assumption based on what was there before.

Low-rise apartment and strata buildings. Balcony glass, stairwell and common area windows, and balustrade panels. We quote in writing, supply before and after photos for the file, and invoice strata managers or agents directly.

Shopfronts around Woodburn Road. A broken shopfront gets boarded up the same day so you can keep trading, with the permanent pane installed as soon as it is cut.

What causes most glass damage around Berala?

Some patterns repeat here.

Rail vibration is a real one. Berala station sits on the passenger line and the Rookwood freight line runs nearby. Years of low-frequency vibration slowly works on old putty and loose beading, and eventually a pane cracks on its own, almost always starting at an edge.

Attempted break-ins are another. Rear laundry windows and ground floor bedrooms are the usual targets. If security is the reason for your call, laminated glass is the upgrade worth the extra cost, because it holds together when struck rather than dropping out of the frame.

Then there is heat. West-facing windows in this part of Sydney cop a heavy thermal load through summer, and any pane with a chipped or nipped edge can crack from thermal stress with nothing physically hitting it.

And the ordinary causes. Cricket balls from local parks, slammed sliders, kids’ bikes against the glass, and storm debris.

What glass do we carry?

  • Clear float glass in 4mm and 6mm for standard windows
  • Toughened safety glass for doors, low-level windows and wet areas
  • Laminated glass for security and for reducing train and traffic noise
  • Obscure and frosted glass for bathrooms and laundries
  • Low-E and double-glazed units for west-facing rooms
  • Tinted glass to cut glare and reduce fading
  • Mirror glass cut and edge-polished to size

Everything is selected and installed to AS 1288 and AS/NZS 2208. That matters most in bathrooms, in doors, and in any pane sitting close to floor level, where safety glass is not optional.

Should you replace the glass or the whole window?

For most Berala jobs, glass only. If the frame is still square and the hardware runs properly, replacing the pane is faster and considerably cheaper.

A full window replacement makes sense when the timber sill has rotted through, a steel frame has rusted badly, the aluminium has pitted, or you are deliberately upgrading to double glazing for noise and heat. We will tell you plainly which of the two you are looking at, and we will not push a full replacement to fix a cracked pane.

For rental properties turning over between tenancies, glass-only repair is nearly always the right call, and we can move fast enough to protect a lease start date.

What does it cost?

Cost comes down to glass type, pane size, frame material and access height. A clear pane in a ground-floor aluminium window is the cheapest scenario. Toughened glass, laminated glass, oversized panels, double-glazed units and upper-storey access all push it up.

Send measurements or photos through on WhatsApp and we will quote from those. The number we give you is the number you pay, and Berala jobs carry no travel loading because we are already here.

Frequently asked questions

Where exactly is your Berala workshop?
47 Oxford Street, Berala, NSW 2141. Open Monday to Sunday, 7:30am to 6pm.

Can I get same-day window glass repair in Berala?
Usually yes. Because the glass stock and cutting bench are in Berala, same-day is standard here for common pane sizes rather than a best case.

Do you still repair old timber sash and steel-framed windows?
Yes. We re-putty timber sashes and re-glaze steel frames, which many glaziers no longer offer.

Can new glass reduce train noise in my house?
Laminated glass or double-glazed units make a clear difference to rail and road noise. We can quote both for the affected rooms.

Do you deal with strata managers and landlords?
Yes. Written quotes, photo documentation, and invoicing direct to strata or the managing agent.

Can I bring a sash or mirror into the workshop instead of booking a visit?
Yes. Small sashes, cabinet doors and mirror panels can be cut and fitted at Oxford Street while you wait.
