Amrah Glass & Aluminium repairs and replaces damaged window glass throughout Dean Park, in the original early-1980s homes and the newer houses on the northern side. We cut glass to the right thickness for your frame, fit it to AS 1288, and give you a fixed price before any work begins.

Dean Park effectively has two housing stocks, and the window work we do in each is quite different.
The original homes date from the early 1980s. Many still have their first aluminium windows, often with thin glass in smaller panes. These are the homes where we most often find worn rubbers, stiff sliders and glass that’s too thin for today’s rules. The same era of housing runs right through Glendenning next door.
The newer homes have larger panes, sliding stackers and sometimes double glazing. Replacement glass for these is usually cut to order and costs more because of the size.
Knowing which one you have helps us bring the right glass on the first visit.
Glass thickness isn’t just a detail on the invoice. It decides what we’re allowed to fit.
AS 1288 sets how large a pane can be for each thickness, depending on its position and wind exposure. So an exact like-for-like swap isn’t always compliant. If the original pane was undersized for its opening, the replacement may need to be thicker or a different glass type. We check this before quoting so the price you get is for glass that actually meets the standard.
Measuring it yourself: look at a broken edge, or gently measure the glass edge where it meets the frame. A rough idea is enough for a quote, and we confirm it on site.
This is one of the most common questions we get from homes near the M7 and Richmond Road. The honest answer is sometimes.
We’ll look at your frames and tell you which options are realistic before you spend anything. For more on each glass type, see how laminated, toughened and double-glazed options compare.
If a window has been broken by a storm, an accident or a break-in, here’s how to keep the claim simple:
We provide itemised quotes, invoices and damage photos for insurers as standard. If glass has only just broken, read what to do right after glass breaks before cleaning up.
Privacy glass is harder to match than clear glass, especially in homes that are 40 years old. Common types include:
Some older patterns are no longer made. If yours has been discontinued, we’ll suggest the closest current match. Where two panes sit side by side, such as a front door and sidelight, replacing both often looks better than leaving one mismatched. A clear photo held close to the glass helps us identify the pattern before we arrive.
Keep in mind that bathroom glass generally needs to be Grade A safety glass. The replacement must meet that rule even if the original didn’t.
New glass is needed when a pane is cracked, broken, badly scratched, fogged between double-glazed layers, or doesn’t meet the safety glass rules for its position.
Repair without new glass works when the pane is sound but the window leaks, rattles, sticks or won’t lock. New rubbers, seals, rollers and catches sort out most of these problems.
A new frame is only recommended when the existing one is bent, corroded or out of square.
Homes built in the same period around Rooty Hill tend to need the same mix of repairs, so we carry the parts to handle most of them on the spot.
We cover Dean Park and the surrounding north-west regularly, including the new estates in Marsden Park, Schofields and Acacia Gardens.
Pricing depends on glass type, thickness, pane size, frame condition, access and urgency. You’ll have a fixed figure before work starts.

Can I replace a broken pane with the same thickness glass?
Not always. If the original was too thin for the opening under AS 1288, the replacement needs to be thicker or a different glass type.
Can double glazing go into my existing aluminium frames?
Only if the frames have enough depth. Many early-1980s frames don’t, so secondary glazing or laminated acoustic glass are common alternatives.
Will laminated glass reduce noise from the M7?
Laminated acoustic glass reduces traffic noise noticeably compared with standard glass. How much depends on the frame and seals.
Is it worth claiming a small broken window on insurance?
Compare the repair cost with your excess first. For a single small pane, paying directly is often cheaper.
Can you match old patterned bathroom glass?
We match it where the pattern is still made. If it’s discontinued, we suggest the closest option and may recommend replacing neighbouring panes too.
Does bathroom glass have to be safety glass?
Yes. Glass in bathrooms generally needs to be Grade A safety glass, even if the original wasn’t.
